The Alumni Society needs some active and engaged volunteers to to be part of our Board of Directors. There is lots of work to be done but without an influx of new volunteers the Alumni Society will have to rethink our presence.

To strike some interest we are combing this year’s AGM with Western’s student production of “The Laramie Project”. Please attend to save the Alumni Society of Western Canada High School!!

Debate Judges Needed – Nov 13/14, 2015

The Western Canada High School Debate Union is very excited to be hosting the 2015 Oxford Cup Tournament.  This prestigious national tournament will see WCHS host over 80 of the top Canadian senior high debaters from November 13th-15th, 2015.  Debaters who have qualified at provincial tournaments will be competing in a British Parliamentary format to represent Canada at the Oxford Cup in England in the spring of 2016.

We are looking for a few volunteers to judge at this prestigious event (Training will be provided on the morning of the event)

Friday the 13^th and/or Saturday the 14^th are the two dates were we particularly need help

Dear Friends:

This year marks the 17^th Anniversary of our Waggle Golf Tournament and the 50^th Anniversary of the 1965 Graduating Class. Please take the opportunity to join your classmates, coaches and families in celebrating these two milestones. Please find the entry form here WAGGLE 2015 Entry Form The Waggle that is open for all Alumni, Teachers, Coaches and your families & friends to join in on the fun. Both golfers and non-golfers are welcome.

You may choose one or more of your teammates and your teams can be single or mixed gender. Emphasis will be on fun and camaraderie rather than competition and prizes. Non-golfers are welcome to join in at the breakfast and banquet. Take the time now to commit and reserve this date on your 2015 calendar.

 

1. Alumni Social Evening at the Century Casino (old Silver $ Casino) Wednesday August 19^th, 2015 at 6 Pm.
2. Waggle Golf Tournament will take place Thursday August 20^th, 2015 at noon.
3. The Turner Valley Golf Course will host the breakfast, tournament and banquet once again.
4. Entry fee is at $130.00 and that includes both the golf and banquet.
5. Optional Banquet for non-golfer’s price is $30.00 for a “baron of beef dinner”.
6. Breakfast for golfers and non-golfers will be available for $15.00 until noon.
7. All prizes will be awarded at the banquet.

We are planning to have a Shot-Gun start at 1 Pm again which means we need 128 golfers to sign up. So pick your teams, adjust your 2015 calendar to ensure that you can attend this great event once again or for the first time.

We have included an entry form in this memo. Complete one (1) form for each golfer and make sure you include your current RCGA handicap or recent scores. Entry and team-related enquiries should be directed to Joan Jefferies at: kentandjoan@shaw.ca.

1974 Reunion

Plans are under-way for the 1974 Reunion!!! Spread the word as we look forward to seeing everyone there!

Start Time: 4 PM – Drinks and Snacks on the Patio by the Pool – Dress: Summer Casual

After Desert & Coffee we will move down to the Reception room for:
Dancing & Program –  60’s /70’s /80’s Music
During the evening we will be staging a:    Variety Show Talent Night!
